Member BenefitsThe Desert Physician Association (DPA) is and independent practice association (IPA’s) for physicians, which offer numerous benefits to its physician members. The Association’s primary focus is the East Valley cities of the Phoenix Metropolitan area including Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Ahwatukee and surrounding area. The Association is wholly owned and operated by its physician members who elect a board of physician directors to oversee its operations.
The benefits that the organization offers to its members include participation in a large number of health plan and PPO network group contracts. Most of these contract arrangements “delegate” credentialing to the DPA, which allows members to participate in many plans by undergoing only a single DPA credentialing, and without paying plan network fees. This saves time, money and confusion as DPA staff coordinates physician information with all contracted health plans. Due to our network size, diversity of specialties, desirability and ability to accept delegated credentialing; DPA is offered the best payment rates for its physician members from these plans, in many cases better than physicians who contract on an individual basis. Additional member benefits are derived from our group purchasing arrangements with selected vendors and suppliers who offer discounts to our members. These business partners are found on our website. The following is a list of our participating business partners who provide special discounts for DPA members: MICA malpractice insurance, Henry Schein medical supplies, PayChex payroll services, MedVoice automated services, Staff Care locum tenens, MidFirst Bank for banking and credit card processing services, Staples Business Advantage for office supplies, and many more. We have also affiliated with several group purchasing organizations (GPO) including Premier, Provider Services of American and MedAssets. The DPA also has special arrangements with many medical service providers including Acuitest and Advanced Genomic Services. We are constantly searching for and adding other business arrangements that offer group discounts to benefit our members. Other benefits of membership include: web advertising of your practice, referrals from other DPA physician members, centralized health plan contract administration and oversight including analysis by administrative experts and review by DPA legal counsel, DPA administrative staff services to aide in the resolution of claims or other problems with health plans, Current information on matters that affect your health plan contracts and other important issues through Meetings, Fax and email Updates.
